Description:
The Dube business unit currently has an opening for a Systems Engineer with a good blend of technical expertise and subject matter familiarity in the area of C4ISR implementation and Architectures; Joint Data Network/Joint Data Interoperability, Joint Close Air Support and Command and Control requirements. Capable of supporting analysis of joint battle management command and control system-of-system performance across Service [Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines] boundaries with a general knowledge of joint systems and an in depth knowledge of USAF, USA, USMC, and/or USN systems. Data link and communications architect fluent in DoDAF and familiar with Service bit level implementation of Service C2 systems for USAF, USA, USMC, and/or USN.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs engineering activities such as defining system requirements, developing technical solutions, performing systems functional analysis, conducting trade studies, and/or performing test and evaluation activities. Will be required to support the implementation of Object Oriented Enterprise Architecting and SOA processes and tools, and have practical hands-on-experience with prototyping. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters to meet business requirements and hardware/software compatibility. Performs complex analysis in the design and implementation of software applications for computer-based systems, and establishes operational objectives and assignments. Works on complex problems and may establish and recommend changes to methods and procedures that affect a system(s). Works on system and software architecture problem(s) that impact the design success of products or addresses broad design issues of future products or technologies. Evaluates recommended solutions to problems related to software systems architecture and makes final recommendations to customers. The engineer should have an understating of DoDAF architectures to conduct technical assessment(s) of joint and coalition capabilities and interoperability, to identify gaps, overlaps, shortfalls and deficiencies in joint warfighting capabilities and to develop specific doctrine, organization, training, material, leadership, personnel, facilities (DOTMLPF) solution(s) to improve joint warfighting capabilities and/or reduce the risk created by identified deficiencies. May serve as the sole system engineer on a small project of moderate complexity, or as a member of a team supporting larger or more complex projects. Participates in systems engineering activities which include one or more of the following: Concept of Operations Formulation, Requirements Definition, Analysis and Engineering, System Architecting, System Analysis and Design, Interface and Data Architectures, Validation and Verification, System Integration, System & Op. Performance Analysis, Lifecycle Cost Analysis & Estimation, Decision Analysis and Resolution. Capable of providing solutions to a variety of problems that may arise in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner. Work is reviewed by management to measure progress toward meeting objectives.REQUIRED EDUCATION/
SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in related field and 7+ years related experience. A solid working knowledge of system engineering and system architecture principles, experience with Object-Oriented analysis/Design (UML Modeling), the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, written/oral communication skills and problem solving ability. Expected to have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite as well as time and task management skills.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Advanced degree in related technical field desired. Knowledge of software development standards, networking, and communication protocols is highly desirable as well as familiarity with military software/hardware systems and protocols such as JVMF, USMTF, and DoD XML. Familiar with Teamcenter, CJCS Instruction 3170.01E for JCIDS, ISO 7498 Open System Interconnection model, DOTMLPF, and Joint Command and Control.
